Vietnam Showcases Tourism and Cultural Charms at France’s Diplomatic Festival
Vietnam made a striking impression at the annual festival of consulates general in France, presenting her tourism destinations, traditional paintings, and musical instruments to the delight of visitors.
Held in Lyon on June 15 and 16, the Vietnamese exhibit was beautifully adorned with lanterns from Hoi An, a UNESCO Creative City in the fields of crafts and folk arts, alongside Dong Ho folk paintings. Large photographs, brochures, and publications displayed the country’s scenic landmarks, tourism products, and rich cultural heritage.
Tang Thanh Son, deputy director of the Vietnam Culture Centre in France, highlighted that this year’s presentation was a collaborative effort with the Vietnamese Association in Lyon. They aimed to promote Vietnam’s tourism and culture through detailed publications and brochures outlining tours and travel routes. The central province of Quang Binh, renowned for its tours exploring Son Doong Cave—the largest cave in the world—attracted significant interest, particularly from young visitors.
Lyon’s Mayor Grégory Doucet praised Vietnam for its innovative ways of showcasing the country’s images, people, and culture at the festival. He expressed admiration for Vietnam’s landscapes, especially the Son Doong cave system, and shared his plans to visit Vietnam and explore its caves.
For over two decades, this renowned festival has celebrated the friendship and international solidarity of Lyon, promoting the cultural diversity and dynamism of consulates and foreign communities. With the theme of craftsmanship and expertise, this year’s edition attracted participation from over 50 countries and territories and drew some 35,000 visitors.
