Vietnam provides complimentary health check-ups for residents in Cambodian province

On March 23, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia organized a charitable initiative providing complimentary health check-ups, medications, and 500 gifts, including cash and goods, to Cambodian citizens and individuals of Vietnamese heritage facing difficulties in the northeastern province of Kratie.

Conducted by the Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital, with support from the Bank for Investment and Development of Cambodia (BIDC) – a subsidiary of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), and the Kratie provincial branch of the Khmer – Vietnamese Association, the program aimed to extend assistance to those in need.

During the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang expressed gratitude to the Kratie provincial authorities and residents for their ongoing support towards the local Vietnamese community. He also encouraged the Vietnamese residents to adhere to Cambodian laws and regulations for a harmonious life in the country.

Vice Governor of Kratie province, Kham Sopheap, emphasized that the initiative aligned with the Cambodian Government’s Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1, spearheaded by Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.

Dr. Ton Thanh Tra, the General Director of Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital, highlighted the hospital’s commitment to conducting similar outreach activities throughout Cambodia. He noted that while the Kratie event marked the hospital’s first program of 2024, it continued the tradition of supporting communities in need, with 2-4 such initiatives annually.
