First Scientific Conference on Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Solidarity Held in Hanoi
The Ministry of National Defence hosted the inaugural scientific conference on Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia solidarity in Hanoi on June 14, under the leadership of Minister of National Defence Gen. Phan Van Giang.
The conference featured over 30 presentations from generals, experts, and scientists across the nation, providing in-depth and objective analyses of the longstanding bonds among the three countries. These presentations will contribute to a comprehensive compilation on the topic.
Discussions addressed key theoretical and historical aspects of the trilateral solidarity’s development during the periods of 1930-1945, 1945-1954, and 1954-1975. Delegates also proposed practical solutions to further strengthen the ties between the peoples and armies of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, aiming to maintain peace, stability, and sustainable development in the current context.
At the closing ceremony, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence, praised the valuable contributions made during the event.
He called for a comprehensive analysis that considers the historical significance and current role of Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia relations, examining the interactions between their governments and armies, as well as the various factors influencing these ties today. This analysis should propose feasible solutions to continue consolidating and strengthening the solidarity and friendship among the three nations.
Sen. Lieut. Gen. Cuong also instructed the unit responsible for the topic to maintain close coordination with relevant agencies to ensure the timely and successful completion of future research endeavors on this subject.
