Bac Giang accelerates Digital Economy Development by 2025

The northern province of Bac Giang is resolutely committed to developing a robust digital economy by 2025, as affirmed by Mai Son, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

The Department of Information and Communications (DIC) has spearheaded multiple initiatives to empower businesses in the digital landscape. These efforts include collaborating with telecommunications providers to implement solutions that enable small-value transactions through Mobile Money accounts. This initiative aims to enhance financial inclusion and provide a convenient transaction method for businesses, especially those in remote areas.

Additionally, Bac Giang has launched an Open Data Portal, offering access to big data analytics on domestic and international market trends. This resource enables firms to develop transformation strategies tailored to the digital economy, allowing businesses to make informed decisions, optimize operations, and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market.

To further support the digital economy, the DIC has strengthened partnerships with major corporations like Viettel, VNPT, and FPT to provide unified guidance to businesses, ensuring alignment with the province’s digital economic development strategy.

The provincial Department of Planning and Investment (DPI) has initiated several activities to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and those transitioning to online sales platforms. This includes training courses that equip SMEs with the necessary skills to reevaluate their production and trade methods, value chains, and customer connection models, facilitating a smooth transition to digital operations.

In the second quarter of this year, the DPI actively supported the registration and establishment of new digital technology firms. Efforts included streamlining market entry procedures, raising awareness about digital technologies, and introducing SMEs to the Small and Medium Enterprises Support Programme for Digital Transformation (SMEdx). This programme provides essential resources and support to help SMEs navigate the complexities of digital transformation.

DIC Director Tran Minh Chieu highlighted significant achievements in digital economic development in the first quarter. The industrial production in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector witnessed a robust recovery. Businesses involved in electronics, computer, and optical product manufacturing experienced stable production volumes, reflecting the resilience and potential of Bac Giang’s digital economy.

The DPI facilitated the establishment of 90 new digital technology enterprises. Additionally, a working session was held with India’s IKDHVAJ Advisers LLP to discuss policy frameworks, industry growth approaches, and policy enforcement methods specific to Vietnam’s electronics industry. This collaboration aims to enhance Bac Giang’s capabilities in the electronics sector, positioning it as a key player in the global digital economy.

Furthermore, the Department of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, registered cooperatives, businesses, and individuals for upcoming e-commerce training sessions. This initiative aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to leverage technology and digital transformation across the production and consumption chain. This preparation is particularly crucial for the upcoming 2024 lychee season, ensuring that local producers can effectively utilize digital tools to reach broader markets.
