Border guards of Vietnam, China hold joint patrol

The border guards stationed in Dien Bien, a northern mountainous province in Vietnam, along with their counterparts in the Mengzhi region of Yunnan province, China, conducted a joint patrol along the shared border line from Marker No. 1 to Marker No. 3 on March 30.

Their inspection revealed that the national border markers are intact, ensuring border safety, and residents on both sides of the border are adhering to the legal agreements on land borders signed between the two countries.

Furthermore, the border guard forces exchanged information regarding the border security situations.

This joint border patrol is part of the cooperation agreement between the defense ministries of both nations, signed on November 12, 2017, aimed at enhancing collaboration in border management and protection.

Vietnam and China share a border spanning approximately 1,450 km, with 1,065.6 km on land and 383.9 km over water. This border passes through seven Vietnamese provinces: Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Lang Son, and Quang Ninh, as well as China’s Yunnan province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
