Vietnamese PM Welcomes Cuban Parliamentary Leader
On July 24, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received a high-ranking delegation from the Cuban Party and State, led by President of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo Hernandez. The delegation visited Vietnam to offer condolences and attend the national funeral for General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Nguyen Phu Trong.
President Hernandez conveyed the deep condolences of the Cuban Party, State, Government, and people to their Vietnamese counterparts, including a message from PM Manuel Marrero Cruz to PM Chinh, on the passing of General Secretary Trong. He affirmed that the Cuban people always remain united and stand in solidarity with the Vietnamese people, expressing his belief that Vietnam will continue to achieve success in national construction, development, and the pursuit of socialism.
PM Chinh expressed gratitude to the Cuban Party, State, Government, and people for their sincere condolences and sympathies during this period of grief. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s steadfast policy of strengthening and developing the special fraternity, faithful solidarity, traditional friendship, and comprehensive cooperation with Cuba.
The Prime Minister emphasized his commitment to maintaining and promoting the exemplary relationship nurtured by generations of leaders from both countries, including General Secretary Trong. He assured that the Vietnamese Government will continue to stand in solidarity with, and support the Cuban Government and people. This includes sharing experiences and enhancing comprehensive cooperation, especially in trade, agriculture, renewable energy, and pharmaceuticals.
President Hernandez stated that Cuba highly values its special friendship with Vietnam and considers cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation strategically significant amid the various challenges and difficulties Cuba faces in external relations and socio-economic affairs. He appreciated the solidarity, support, and timely assistance provided by the Vietnamese Party, State, and people, particularly in stabilizing food supply and developing food production in Cuba.
Hernandez also mentioned that Cuba encourages and will support Vietnamese enterprises to invest and conduct business successfully in the country.
