Vietnam Day Held at Russian University
On May 29, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PREU) hosted a program that introduced Vietnamese culture and cuisine to Russian friends.
The inaugural Vietnam Day event attracted a large audience, including students from PREU and other universities. The festivities featured an exhibition of paintings and artwork, along with folk games and a quiz on Vietnamese history and traditions.
As part of the program, a seminar on Russia-Vietnam relations in the new political context was held. This seminar saw participation from representatives of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, scientists, businesspeople from both countries, the Vietnamese Embassy, the Vietnamese Association in Russia, and PREU lecturers and students.
PREU Rector Ivan Lobanov remarked that Vietnam Day not only strengthens the relations between the two countries but also affirms their close cooperation in education and training. He emphasized that PREU is eager to collaborate with Vietnam in economics fields such as the digital economy and the green economy, as well as in scholar exchanges between Russian and Vietnamese academics.
During the event, PREU and RV-Exim Solutions company signed a cooperation agreement for student training.
In a congratulatory letter to Rector Lobanov, Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi expressed that Vietnam Day targets not only PREU lecturers and students but also Russians and Vietnamese at large. He commended the university’s longstanding cooperation with Vietnam and its significant role in enhancing educational collaboration and mutual understanding between the two nations.
Attendees also enjoyed art performances by Vietnamese and Russian students.
Currently, about 400 Vietnamese students are studying and conducting research at PREU, making it the Russian university with the highest number of students from Southeast Asia.
